McLaren Vale has quietly become one of the world’s great Grenache regions — the warm days, cool nights, and ancient bush vines producing a style that is at once distinctly Australian and deeply reminiscent of the great Grenaches of the Southern Rhône. Charlie’s take on it is characteristically direct and delicious: this is a New World Grenache with simple elegance and insanely good sweet berry fruit — ripe raspberries front and centre, with a lovely bit of funky green stem that adds a wild, almost savoury complexity and stops it from ever being too easy or too obvious.
