These guys make some of the best Gigondas there is today, but they do have a small parcel of Merlot vines, which in the Rhone is a non-permitted grape, that they blend with some of the Grenache and Syrah they use for their Gigondas. Big dark fruit of blackberry and plum, spices of clove and cinnamon and hints of tobacco. Big tannins work perfectly with the fruit, creating a wine that punches way above its weight
