Navarra may live in the shadow of its famous neighbour Rioja, but producers like Príncipe de Viana have been quietly making the case for the region for decades. This Crianza is a textbook example of what Spanish Tempranillo does so well — generous, characterful, and enormously food-friendly. The nose is rich and inviting, with masses of dark blackberry and plum fruit, lifted by subtle notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla from its time in oak. On the palate it’s full-bodied and concentrated, with smooth, well-integrated tannins and a long, lingering finish that makes it dangerously easy to reach for another glass. Brilliant value for a Crianza of this quality.
