Michel Gros is a name that commands serious respect in Burgundy. Based in Vosne-Romanée — the village that gave the world Romanée-Conti — the Gros family has been producing some of the Côte de Nuits’ most celebrated wines for generations. And this Bourgogne Côte d’Or Rouge is the perfect introduction to what makes them so special. Made with the same meticulous care as their Premier and Grand Cru wines, the 2021 is a beautifully crafted village-level Pinot Noir that drinks well above its appellation. The nose is elegant and precise — wild strawberry, fresh red cherry, and a delicate floral lift that is unmistakably Vosne in character. On the palate it’s round and silky, with supple tannins, a lovely natural freshness, and a long, refined finish with a subtle earthy complexity that speaks clearly of its Côte d’Or origins.
