Louis Jadot needs very little introduction — they've been one of Burgundy's most reliable and respected names since 1859, and the Clos de Malte is one of their most consistent wines. Santenay sits at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, a village that delivers serious red Burgundy character at prices that make the more famous names to the north look rather expensive.

The 2019 is a brilliant vintage for Burgundy — generous, ripe and beautifully structured. This is exactly the kind of bottle you want on the table as the evenings draw in and the food gets a bit more serious. Red cherry, earthy depth and that lovely silky Pinot Noir texture. Brilliant now and for several years yet.
