Desaunay-Bissey is a respected family domaine based in Flagey-Échézeaux, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits — better known for its Pinot Noir, but producing Chardonnay of real character and distinction. The 2020 vintage was one of the richest and most generous in Burgundy for a generation, and this Bourgogne Chardonnay shows exactly why: six years in bottle have given it a lovely development and complexity that you simply don’t find at this level very often. The nose is warm and inviting, with baked apple, ripe pear, and those beautiful sweet spice notes of vanilla and cinnamon that speak of careful oak handling. On the palate it’s rich and textured, with a soft, integrated acidity and that classic buttery, creamy weight that is the hallmark of great white Burgundy. A beautifully crafted wine that is drinking magnificently right now.
